Rutilated Shrug Pattern
Rutiles are fine needles of titanium dioxide, often found in quartz, which add color and pattern to the stones. When holding a strand of mohair with two strands of worsted weight yarn, the silk and mohair dance in and out of each stitch, adding color and pattern to your fabric. Don’t be afraid to use a bold color of mohair; as it mixes with the wool, it will be toned down. Have fun playing with all the color-mixing possibilities!
Rutilated Shrug is worked in pieces and seamed, then finished with edging along the front and neckline.
This shrug is like a big shawl with sleeves and a wide-open front so it will fit a range of bodies. To decide on the best size for you, look at your cross-back measurement and allow at least 5” / 13 cm of ease.
